About the Famous Pizza Family Restaurant
It all started in 1981 when Anastasios and Theodora Vasiliou took a trip to visit friends in Onley Va. They learned about the barrier island, Chincoteague, and went exploring. As they drove around the island they fell in love with its simplicity and charm. Anastasios noticed there were no fresh dough pizza places and realized the possibility of a business opportunity.
They then moved to the island and bought a previous unsuccessful business and within 6 months were operating a successful business. The plan was easy: to serve the freshest product made with the finest ingredients. . . . . and it worked. The people on Chincoteague Island have enjoyed our family recipes for over 25 years.
The tradition now continues as I (Christina Tountas) and husband (Niko Tountas) follow in my parents footsteps to become new owners and operators of famous pizza. The work comes natural with work ethics that were taught to me in the many years of helping out around the restaurant as a young child.
